It was found near the main building of the nuraghe and given its shape, which clearly resembles a duck, it really arouses a lot of tenderness. Indeed, considering its dating, an almost eternal tenderness: it is a bottle of about 2,600 years ago and was discovered at the foot of the Sirai nuraghe in Carbonia during a recent excavation campaign directed by the archaeologist Carla Perra and exhibited for the first time. vaulted to the Archaeological Museum of Villa Sulcis.

An even more exceptional find if you think back that traces of milk have also been found, as sanctioned by the experts of the Sant'Orsola University of Naples. There is no doubt: this vase called ascos of the Phoenician tradition, which recalls the appearance of a duck, was used to feed the newborns who lived in the Sirai nuraghe 26 centuries ago.

A further suggestion: were they children who belonged to the Phoenician civilization that had just settled in Sulcis, or to the very late Nuragic civilization that would soon disappear? Perhaps you will never know, but for sure the two civilizations lived in symbiosis around the nuraghe Sirai and this is confirmed by another find, a jug in the shape of a wineskin typical of the nuragic tradition and found in the same context in which the nice "bottle "Of antiquity. These unpublished finds will remain on display at the museum until the end of July.
