The successful "Sounds and Consciousness" concert series returns to Alghero, this year marking its eighth edition . Eight years of international guests, Sardinian artists who have brought Sardinia's name to the world and boast an excellent resume, as well as important collaborations with the greatest musicians of all time. The series is unique in its presentation of meditative and Indian music, typical sounds of Eastern instruments, unlike our musical ear but profoundly connected to spirituality. Conceived and artistically directed by maestro Mauro Uselli, this format brings to the stage a new world, sonically distant from us, yet intimate and meditative: a non-physical place that connects with our inner space, touching the chords of our emotions.
The musicians who have participated in this series, and whom we will be hearing again this year, are artists who have toured the world and bring with them a wealth of experience, encompassing sounds, relationships, research, and insights. There will be three live evenings and unique concert performances: Mauro Uselli will open the series as usual on Tuesday, September 16th, beginning at 9:00 PM at the Cloister of San Francesco, presenting a repertoire of Indian ragas and music by Bach, with stylistic improvisations typical of the artist. On Wednesday, the 17th, again in the splendid cloister of the monumental complex of San Francesco, the duo Lucia Maria Elena Serra Cherchi on violin and Alessandro Tanca on piano will perform. Their repertoire will range from Beethoven to Massenet, including Dvorak.
The concert will also begin at 9:00 PM. The final evening will feature Remo Scano on the sitar, one of the most popular Indian instruments in the West. A concert of classical Indian music, featuring expositions of deeply resonant ragas.
