A journey through the sacred scriptures, from Creation to Job, passing through the exodus from Egypt of the people of Israel and the story of Jacob, which demonstrates how the words of the best-selling book in the world can still be a call to the highest ethical, spiritual and social values: “The novel of the Bible”, the show by Aldo Cazzullo, enchanted the audience of Nora last night. It ended with the spectators singing “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen with Moni Ovadia, on stage with Cazzullo and the talented pianist Giovanna Famulari for two hours interspersed with songs and the explanation of significant passages of the Bible, the second evening of the program “The Night of the poets” organized by Cedac.
The show, inspired by the journalist writer's latest book, entitled "The Novel of the Bible", in addition to retracing the most important passages of the Old Testament, also allowed us to address issues of today's society. "The Bible is God's autobiography, I don't know if he wrote it, the only certain thing is that it was really written by God", joked Cazzullo, at the beginning of the evening. Moni Ovadia, at the opening instead focused on the use of the sacred scriptures perpetrated by men to justify the worst atrocities: "Knowing the Bible means removing it from the clutches of fanatics, who want to make it an instrument of war. Those words, instead, call for peace and universal brotherhood".
From the stage overlooking the sea of Pula, Aldo Cazzullo leaves the history of the people of Israel for a moment to focus on the massacre of innocents conducted by Netanyahu: "Israel, enough. Enough deaths in Gaza". At the end of the show the applause is thunderous, during the evening - given the times we live in - Aldo Cazzullo and Moni Ovadia recalled how from the Bible we can still draw important teachings and promote universal values such as peace and brotherhood, as long as those words are not exploited and used for the most despicable purposes.
