Giorgia Meloni's decision to settle the dinner bill of a group of Italians who ran away from the restaurant without paying in Albania is controversial.
The premier, who spent a few days of vacation in Albania, said she was "ashamed" for the flight of her compatriots and explained: "The Italy I want to represent is not a nation that gets talked about abroad for these things, that he doesn't respect other people's work, that he thinks he's amusing himself by ripping off others». For this, he said he had asked the ambassador to go and settle the bill, "which I paid personally".
