At the MusiCa Arena of the Cagliari Fair over five thousand spectators delirious for the legendary quintetTwenty-nine years after “The Final Countdown”, the Swedish band Europe are coming to Sardinia for the first time and are enchanting the Cagliari audience : last night at the MusiCa Arena della Fiera, the legendary quintet performed in front of over five thousand spectators, bringing their greatest hits, accompanied by their latest releases.
An evening in full hard rock flavor, opened by the bands Dobermann, Cobra Spell and the islanders Rod Sacred. Then, it was just after 22:15 when the leader Joey Tempest appears and makes the crowd roar, followed immediately by the other members.
Without wasting any time, the first notes of the classic “On Broken Wings” resound from the amplifiers, and then make room for the powerful voice of the frontman. They continue with “Rock the Night”, a hit from the 80s, and the introspective “Walk the Earth”, before greeting the spectators with an unexpected «Ajò, pagu bellu!». “Carrie” and other well-known hits mix with the most recent material in a crescendo of emotions, which is definitively crowned when Joey wraps himself in the flag of the Quattro Mori and doubles the previous dose with a heartfelt «Ajò, Sardegna!».
There is even room for a cover of a song that made music history, “No Woman No Cry” by Bob Marley.
The Swedes' world premiere in Sardinia ended successfully, on the night of the timeless "The Final Countdown" sung by the powerful chorus of the audience who applauded with satisfaction.
