Low rates for Sardinians with Volotea in continuity, but Sardinia at Easter is inaccessible for tourists and non-residents.

For a return flight from Rome and Milan to the airports of Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia we start from the monstre figure of 600 euros.

The "continental" can find tickets for a single route - excluding surcharges for seats, baggage and more - which reach up to 330 euros in the week of Easter, which for the island is a real test in view of the 'summer.

There are also lower rates, but at very high prices. For a Rome-Cagliari with Ryanair, it costs 331 euros, for a Malpensa-Olbia with Easyjet it goes from 100 to 277 euros. But the highest prices are with Volotea, from Tuesday 13 it costs 338 euros a connection from Rome or Milan to the three airports of the island.

The fear is that it is only the prelude to what could happen in the height of summer, between July and August, when the demand for flights to Sardinia rises exponentially. It is the law of the free market: when there is more demand, in peak periods, costs rise exponentially.

But also an indirect consequence of the lack of economic compensation. The companies that have decided to fly for a year on Sardinian skies at discounted rates and without economic compensation from the Region rely on tourists.
