Only 48 hours after the expiry of the redundancy fund - which has not been extended - the first letters of collective dismissal concerning the 1,322 employees of Air Italy are arriving.

The letters were sent in advance by e-mail to some workers.

On 23 September the Sardinian-Qatari company had started the collective dismissal procedure for the stop of the activities. The dismissal takes effect immediately with the payment of the indemnity in lieu of the notice.

A similar conclusion of the dispute had in fact been announced on December 29: company representatives had not presented themselves to the table with the Government, Regions and trade unions. The confrontation ended with a stalemate and the liquidators themselves had informed the Ministry of Labor that nothing had changed since the last meeting on 15 December.

Workers will now be able to access Naspi with a more favorable regime since the new service provides for a reduction in the amount no longer from the fourth month, but from the sixth and for the over 50s from the eighth month. In addition, the Region of Sardinia has managed to access the EGF, the European Globalization Adjustment Fund, which for the Air Italy dispute has provided for an allocation of 4.5 million (3.8 million for the EGF share, 683 thousand euros for the Region).
