The IGP-branded Sardinian Lamb, one of the excellences of Sardinian agri-food, is looking to the large Chinese market. In the province of Shandong, in particular in Jinan, the president of the Consortium for the protection of Battista Cualbu and the president of the Shandong Animal Husbandry Association, Lu Yan, have signed a collaboration agreement , under the interested gaze of the governor of the province of Shandong Zhou Naixiang and the CEO of the Bank of China Lin Jingzhen. The Consortium is committed to coordinating commercial cooperation between the Chinese association and Italian livestock companies, illustrating the regulations and providing commercial support, as well as technical consultancy and support services.
China, and in particular the province of Shandong (the most important agricultural reality of the state), therefore looks with interest at the Sardinian agro-pastoral world: the dairy sheep and the production of Agnello di Sardegna PGI in particular, the genetic selection, the breeding methods and the sustainability of the productions, were the reason that led the branch of the Bank of China in Shandong to invite the representatives of the Consortium of protection based in Macomer on the occasion of the Boc's Shandong Week, an economic event held every year to develop a modern agriculture.
In the background there is also the interest of the FAO: it is no coincidence that Ambassador Guang Defu was in Sardinia in April to get to know the reality of the Consortium for the Protection of IGP Lamb, a reality with about 5 thousand members including breeders, slaughterers and portioners . «An important occasion for us», comments Battista Cualbu, «in the presence of over 200 delegates from all over the world and 18 invited States, within a very high level event. An extraordinary opening that is an important signal for us, with the hope that the dialogue with this fundamental country for what concerns agri-food will be resumed».
"Participation in this event fully meets the objectives of our consortium, which has long been on a path to internationalization," adds Alessandro Mazzette, director of Contas. "We have signed an agreement to share our sustainable and ethical breeding methods. We are proud that our pastoral culture represents a virtuous model to export to the Asian country that wanted us here."
