Growth of Sardinian companies, opportunities for the territories most in trouble. The memorandum of understanding was signed today in Cagliari between UniCredit, represented by Enrico Batini, and the extraordinary commissioner of the Government for the Zes (Special Economic Zones) Aldo Cadau.

The initiative of the Zes intends to favor the economic development of the regions of southern Italy, and foresees the construction of the necessary infrastructures in the industrial areas, creating efficient connections between the transport networks and initiating works of urbanisation, industrialization and environmental recovery.

The island's special economic zone is the recipient of specific tax breaks and bureaucratic simplifications, to be implemented around industrial districts, port and inland port areas that present the characteristics of ports of strategic importance, aimed at promoting the island's economic development.

Under the agreement, UniCredit undertakes to be a financial partner of companies wishing to invest in the Special Economic Zone of Sardinia, through the offer of credit and financial instruments and the allocation of a specific dedicated ceiling.

The National Recovery and Resilience Plan allocates 630 million euros for infrastructure investments precisely to ensure adequate development of the connections of the Zes areas with the national transport network, in particular with the Trans-European networks (Ten-T) , in order to make effective implementation of the Zes. Furthermore, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, in addition to investments, also provides for a simplification system for the issue of administrative authorizations necessary for investments and to facilitate the construction of interventions quickly, as well as the establishment of new businesses.

«The special economic zones - explained Enrico Batini, Corporate Manager for Central Italy of UniCredit Italia - are an important opportunity to attract investments, necessary to create new employment and contribute to the development of the territory. As a bank, we have made available a 1 billion lien credit line for companies that want to invest in the 8 Italian Zes».

Then the extraordinary commissioner of the Government for Zes Sardinia intervenes: «The protocol signed with UniCredit - explains Aldo Cadau - is fundamental to facilitate new investments in our special economic zone. We must not forget that this is a moment of particular difficulty for businesses, burdened above all by the increase in energy costs and, in the case of Sardinia, by the criticalities linked to the transport system".
