The price increases hit spending on holidays, with consequent increases in decorations, panettone and food products. A situation that puts year-end consumption at risk also in Sardinia.

It is the regional Adiconsum that raises the alarm: " Everything costs more this year - says the president Giorgio Vargiu - The high energy, the war in Ukraine and the crisis of raw materials, together with speculative phenomena that have nothing to what to do with bills and conflicts, have led to a wave of price increases that affects all items related to Christmas . Industrial panettone and pandoro cost on average between 10% and 20% more than last year, for Christmas decorations (baubles, garlands, trees, lights, etc.) there are increases of up to +25%, while the the “food” item grows overall by about 15% on 2021».

This means that, "with the same consumption, only for food expenses related to the end-of-year festivities will Sardinian families be called upon to spend 65 million euros more than at Christmas 2021 , with a total expenditure that will exceed 485 million euros for food and drinks », adds Vargiu. The price increases, however, "put consumption at serious risk: according to our estimates, 1 Sardinian family out of 3 says it is ready to cut spending on gifts, decorations and food for the upcoming holidays, to contain the effects of the increases in prices and save family budgets», concludes the president of Adiconsum.
