Among the performers who in the last decade have proudly achieved a leading position in Hollywood studios we certainly find Adam Driver. Californian of European origins, the actor inaugurated his career by making his debut on the small screen with the HBO television series "Girls", and since then he has seen a long climb towards success ahead of him.
To his talent and dedication he owes the Volpi Cup for best male performance in the film “Hungry Hearts” by Saverio Costanzo, the first Oscar nomination with “BlacKkKsman” by Spike Lee, moving on to the award for best actor awarded by the Los Angeles Film Critic Association for “Paterson” and many splendid collaborations such as the one in “About Davis” by the Coen Brothers. But the real watershed of his artistic career - which from a phase of medium notoriety allowed him, from the public and critics, an attention worthy of the most important stars - can be found in the second Oscar nomination for "Marriage Story ” , a romantic drama also starring Scarlett Johansson.
Before embarking on the acting profession, Driver took part in some missions in Iraq after enlisting in the US Marines. The consolidated experiences in the theaters of war motivated him to found, together with his wife, the non-profit association "Arts in the Armed Forces", which aims to bring the cathartic experience of the theater and staging. As for the rest, we know very little else about her private life, about which the star always aims to maintain maximum confidentiality.
After last month's happy news celebrating the birth of his second child, the actor has also aroused curiosity for some public interventions from which evident humility and irony shines through. During the television program “Who's Talking to Chris Wallace”, when asked by the interviewer: «You don't look like a typical movie star, has your appearance hindered your career?» - which among other things aroused a certain dissent and indignation on social media - Driver responded thus: «I have worked constantly, which is fantastic, with people I have always wanted and dreamed of working with. So, in this sense, it wasn't like that: I am the way I am, I can't change it. So I think it helped me. One obstacle is that I break mirrors everywhere I go and that I have a deformed, oversized body that doesn't allow me to fit through doors, or fit into most clothes or cars. Apart from this, the rest is fine."
And compared to some statements in the press that would compare him to sacred monsters such as Al Pacino or Jack Nicholson , he replied: «Well, the New Yorker once called me horse-faced, so I take certain statements with a pinch of salt. I remember one reviewer writing, “His agent probably doesn't know whether to put him in a movie or the Kentucky Derby.” In short, if you believe the good thing, you must also believe the bad thing. So I try not to take anything too seriously ."
But it would be foolish to forget the contribution that the American actor also gave to the "Star Wars" saga, taking part in the latest trilogy with the character of Kylo Ren. After all, his global fame - beyond the praise received mainly with arthouse films - derives precisely from the work performed in the role of the fearsome Sith warrior.
However, we learn that the actor will no longer play the same role within the saga. Guest of the Smartless podcast, Driver categorically denied his further involvement in the new LucasFilm projects. To a very specific question in this direction, he intervened as follows: «They are making plans, but not with me. I will no longer be involved."
Regarding his time with the world of Star Wars, the actor also told some pleasant anecdotes, such as the engagement wanted by director JJ Abrams for the first film: «I received an offer to act in films, but there wasn't one script to read and it's something I've never done before. You had to confirm your commitment without knowing the details. Abrams told me everything I could know at the time, but there wasn't a script you could read to help you understand where the story was going to go."
