Achille Polonara posted a video message on Euroleague Social X: "Hi guys, thank you for the support and love you've shown me. I'm ready for the transplant. I can't wait to get started. See you on the court soon. Thank you so much."
The Dinamo Banco di Sardegna forward has been hospitalized at the Sant'Orsola clinic in Bologna since last week to continue treatment for myelodysplastic leukemia. On Wednesday, Polonara will receive bone marrow from an American woman who was found to be a 90% match for the donation.
"The goal is to pass the medical and return to the pitch," the player reiterated. The Ancona-born winger immediately took to social media to share his experience: "I think it can be helpful and raise awareness about donations."
