«As a Region, we reiterate our desire to give back to the mayors a central role in the control and direction of the institution: they are the first garrison of the territories and must be able to have a say in strategic choices».

Thus the governor of Sardinia Alessandra Todde , at the end of the shareholders' meeting - including the Region - of Abbanoa , held this morning in Nuoro and in which the company presented the 2024 budget . A budget ( HERE ALL THE FIGURES ) which, Todde underlines, «marks the record of investments with a +20.7%».

"The financial year - adds the governor - closes with a surplus of 2.6 million euros and a production value up 6.8% . An important balance sheet, which marks a turning point. A balance sheet that for the first time was approved by 100% of the members".

"The results - the comment of the President of the Region - tell us that we are on the right track. But what I want to strongly emphasize is the change of vision initiated by the new Board of Directors , which I thank for the work done so far. The internal reorganization process, already underway, is a clear signal: bringing crucial functions such as purification, planning and maintenance back into the company means giving back to Abbanoa fundamental skills , which were largely outsourced, and building a more efficient, transparent and territorial management".

Todde then remarked, as mentioned, the desire to bring the mayors "back to the center", and then concluded: "I want to say it clearly: Sardinia will not retreat one millimeter in defending the public nature of the water service. Water is a common good and as such must be managed : outside of any hypothesis of privatization, within a vision that puts citizens and territories at the center".
