A series of meetings , accompanied by fun field trials , to bring the little ones closer to the "Stem" disciplines , and therefore science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The initiative, organized by CRS4 - Center for research, development and higher education in Sardinia, is aimed at children aged between 4 and 7 years.
«The idea is excellent and the potential of the Stem philosophy is yet to be discovered in Sardinia - underlines Andrea Biancareddu , councilor for public education of the Sardinia Region - for this I thank the CRS4 for this initiative aimed at children and young people in kindergartens and the primaries. A new interdisciplinary approach, in which skills from different disciplines such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics merge and create new skills that will be very useful for teaching and learning for the new generations".

«It is essential – continues Biancareddu – to offer children this new teaching method which develops their cultural formation in a different and more homogeneous way and above all their future placement in the world of work. In this age group, children show a natural curiosity towards topics of a scientific and technological nature with the right playful approach. In fact, we must always keep in mind the need for children to perceive the playful dimension as a central element of the activities».

«The initiative – adds Giacomo Cao, sole director of CRS4 – is part of a strategic plan which has the aim of sowing STEM disciplines in that age range where the youngest are extremely receptive to grasping elements of innovation which more advanced may get lost. We already have a series of contacts established with kindergartens and primary schools and we are available to reach schools in all the municipalities of Sardinia ».

«The importance of STEM disciplines in the country must also be emphasized through real courses such as the one proposed - continues Cao -. CRS4 will begin this activity and intends to expand this informative offer to prisoners and the elderly in the coming months".

A first calendar of activities foresees the involvement of the primary school "Giovanni Lilliu" of Cagliari, to follow and just to name a few it will be the turn of the schools of Olzai, Ollolai, Ovodda, Gavoi, Perdasdefogu, Ulassai, Jerzu, Gairo, Osini, Orgosolo , La Maddalena and Carloforte.
