Second place at the European Beer Star for the "Flavia" beer from the Rubiu craft brewery in Sant'Antioco, competing in the 20 Belgian-Style category, Strong Blond Ale.

This year the competition was attended by producers of 44 different nationalities for a total of 2,395 beers entered in the competition.

With this new recognition, the "Flavia", a 7.6 ° clear, proves to be one of the spearheads of the island's brewery production.

Its name refers to Porto Flavia, the mining deposit suspended between land and sea located in the Iglesias coast which allowed the direct loading of the extractions on merchant ships bound for northern Europe. Among the mining companies that led it, the Belgian de la Vieille Montagne gave it renewed impetus.

From these historical assumptions, the Rubiu brewery decided in 2009 to give life to the "Flavia", a Belgian style and a recipe designed to give ideal refreshment to the many miners who spent their working days in Porto Flavia.

"This milestone testifies to the great commitment we put into every day in trying to produce a craft beer that tastes good for the consumer and has excellent organoleptic characteristics - said the master brewer Fabrizio Melis -. No results can be achieved independently, this medaglia is the result of a continuous work done by us three partners and by all our collaborators, only as a team and with a lot of passion can these satisfactions be obtained ".
