Preliminary activities for a new search and recovery operation for the remains of the Capo Figari shipwreck (19 April 2025) have begun in the last few hours.
Following the discovery of body parts of one of the victims, almost certainly Lorenzo Deiana, the Coast Guard has now received further valuable information, useful in identifying the vessel that sank on Easter Eve last year.
The area is the one already identified by the Deiana family's lawyer, Pietro Cherchi, thanks to the triangulation of data obtained by analyzing the electronic traces of the victims' phones (the brothers Lorenzo and Giuseppe Deiana). At this point, specialized personnel and an underwater robot from the Italian Navy (the Anteo vessel) could be used, as was already done for the recovery of the victim of the Alemax fishing vessel sinking.
