Today arrives in Sardinia "A piggy bank for a friend", the educational initiative of Banca Generali Private for elementary schools, promoted with the collaboration of FEduF (Italian banking association) to bring students closer to the themes of savings and sustainability.

The project involves over 230 students throughout the island thanks to the participation, among others, of the Comprehensive Institute of Lanusei, the Comprehensive Satta Institute of Quartu Sant'Elena and the primary schools of Girasole, Baunei-Santa Maria Navarrese , Talana, Tortolì and Lotzorai.

“We are happy to bring our commitment alongside FEduF to Sardinia with a project that aims to bring young people closer to the key concepts of savings and sustainability. As a private bank attentive to the assets of Italian families, we are aware of how important it is today to educate the new generations on economic issues to bridge that gap with other countries that always sees us too far behind in the world financial education rankings. We strongly believe that it is necessary to work with young people from today in order to lay the foundations for a future in which savings and sustainability represent two central guidelines in Italian society ”, explained Massimiliano Ruggiero, area manager of Banca Generali Private in Sardinia.

The meeting stimulates in the children a first reflection on the value of money and on the need to manage it responsibly for themselves and for the community, with a view to conscious citizenship and the promotion of good practices of sustainable development.

There is also a game phase, with the children who can make piggy banks, using recycled materials (such as plastic bottles, boxes and decorations from clothes that are no longer usable). The works, photographed and accompanied by a thought on the theme of sustainability, saving and protection of natural resources, will be published on the website www.economiascuola.it.

"'A piggy bank as a friend' is an extraordinary opportunity that allows Banca Generali and FeduF to provide schools with an innovative path on issues of fundamental importance for young people - commented Giovanna Boggio Robutti, director general of the foundation created by ABI - . This aspect is crucial since financial education is a subject that in all respects contributes to the definition of the concepts of legality and democracy, representing not only an instrument for the protection and enhancement of the individual and social economic heritage, but also a right of citizenship referred to. by the Constitution itself ".

In addition to the island, the initiative also involves schools in 14 Italian cities.
