The Italian national basketball team returns to Livorno tomorrow evening, for the first time at the Modigliani Forum which promises to be sold out - over 8 thousand tickets sold in three days - in the 2023 World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine .

The event was presented today in the ceremonial hall of the Municipality by the mayor Luca Salvetti, who did the honors of the house, and by the president of the Fip Giovanni Petrucci together with Gianmarco Pozzecco, Italbasket technical commissioner who this morning has already led the first training on the parquet by Modigliani.

The national team will also play in Livorno for the first time with the new shirt. Also present at the presentation were Lorenzano Di Renzo, commander of the Naval Academy, Massimo Faraoni, president of the Fip regional committee, and Antonio Santa Maria, general manager of Master Group Sport who organized the event. «We are happy - Petrucci said - because Livorno did not betray in a match that has a meaning beyond the sporting one: in fact, February 24th will be one year since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and our thoughts also turn to this sad anniversary , for this reason we hope to honor the commitment in the best possible way. Thanks to the mayor and to Faraoni - Petrucci recalled - who have overcome the difficulties that an international event of this kind creates. Here in Livorno we have football, and I always have fond memories because here I won the Armando Picchi first prize, but also basketball with its two historic teams that have a huge following. All sold out yes - concluded Petrucci - this is a national team that creates sympathy and even if we qualify tomorrow it won't be a friendly match ».
