A 2021 that has given "signs of recovery" for Sardinia, with also the Bank of Italy which has "certified the progressive improvement of the island's economy".

It is one of the passages in the balance sheet of the last 12 months made by the governor Christian Solinas, released by Villa Devoto at the end of the year.

Solinas expressed "great satisfaction" also for the numbers recorded by tourism on the island, which saw "positive" results in some ways even higher than in 2019, the pre-pandemic year. And for new hires, after years, in health and other public sectors through competitions.

As for the Covid-19 emergency, "the pandemic has put a strain on all health systems in the world and no one was really ready to face this sneaky virus," Solinas stressed. Adding: "The numbers, however, tell us that, beyond the exploitation, Sardinia has managed this difficult phase in an orderly and correct manner". The island in fact, the governor remarked, "is the Italian region that has remained the least number of weeks in the red and orange zone and is one of the regions that has best organized its network of vaccination hubs". "All this - stressed Solinas - means that, despite many inconveniences and limitations, we have managed to manage this situation well and efficiently".

Then the Health: "We approved - said Solinas - a very important and epochal reform, after having inherited a system that saw centralization in Ats, which proved to be inefficient". From 2022, however, the governor explained, "health care will be rearticulated starting from the territory, with the principals that for the first time will only deal with health services, while the bureaucratic part will be transferred to another structure", with consequent benefits for the whole system.

Finally, Solinas stressed the cornerstones of the approved regional budget, and in particular the measures adopted to counter depopulation, with measures that incentivize not only the birth rate, but also those who decide to stay in the centers most at risk of depopulation.

Then the best wishes to the Sardinians, whom the governor wanted to thank "for how diligently they have observed the provisions relating to Covid", with the hope that 2022 may be the year of the definitive return to a "new normal".
