Zes Unica fails to make a breakthrough in Sardinia: the island is lagging behind in investments.

Waiting sixty days and not years for a concession – whether it's a new production facility or an expansion – thanks to a One-Stop Shop that speeds up the procedures: it may seem strange, but since the Single Zes has been in existence (since 2024) it has been possible .
But in Sardinia—perhaps because this powerful tool isn't being promoted as it should be—few people know about it. Data from the Zes mission structure, updated this week and published by Il Sole 24 Ore, show only 41 projects, worth €240 million, submitted by businesses on the island, corresponding to the same number of single authorizations issued by the Department for the South of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Employment impact: 582.
This, compared to 1,450 projects in total brought by the ten Regions that are part of this area where everything is simpler, for a total turnover of over 9.3 billion euros , with Puglia alone receiving 430 unique authorizations (ten times those of Sardinia) which alone represent 2.8 billion in investments and 7,882 potential jobs.
Then there's the tax credit, the other level of benefits for those who participate in this network. In this case, Sardinian companies are responding: approximately 380 have come forward. Those who invest in new capital goods (machinery, plant, equipment, and real estate) can benefit from a tax bonus that can cover up to 60% of the expenditure. In Sardinia, the incentive is 50% for small businesses, 40% for medium-sized businesses, and 30% for large businesses. This percentage is increased by 10% in Sulcis, an area that enjoys a more favorable regime due to historical economic fragility.
