"For next year, unless we want Meloni and Vannacci, which is a significant problem in a Europe and a world like this," as the center-left, "we must help people, because the middle class can no longer cope. Every effort to recover resources, cut waste and unnecessary spending, and address tax evasion and avoidance must go towards the salaries of the devastated middle class."
This is the appeal from Massimo Zedda, mayor of Cagliari, made this evening in Florence from the stage of the Leopolda, the event organized by Matteo Renzi. The mayor of the capital city recalled that "the worst public sector contract is that of local authorities, of those who provide essential services in municipalities," then "that of public education, of those who should train future leaders," and the third is "that of social health workers, nurses, and doctors, despite the higher salaries. But think of the responsibilities: saving lives and caring for people. " "A country" that pays these people so little "is doomed to failure."
Speaking of his municipality, Zedda recalled: " I left it when it was a little gem in 2019 and found it quite run-down" by a mayor "from the Brothers of Italy" because "it's not true that we are all the same."
"Compared to 2011, when I inherited it from a Forza Italia mayor, I found the situation objectively more difficult. I struggled more, also because there's an overall impoverishment," Zedda concluded, "but now we have a healthy municipality, with zero debt."
