Sardinia is penultimate among the Italian regions that offer "new entrepreneurial ideas" the best conditions for working and creating economic activities .

The ideal territory is that of Lombardy (index equal to 798 points or high performance) followed by Piedmont (770 points). In the queue, Molise last (376 points) and penultimate, in fact, Isola (384 or "low performance"), with a national average of 627 points.

This is what emerges from an analysis by the Study Office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna , which examined the UnionCamere-Infocamere data for 2023.

Among the Sardinian provinces, all classified as having "low performance" for new businesses, the best is that of Nuoro-Ogliastra, in 79th place with an index of 476 . Followed by Oristano (83rd place with index 458), Cagliari (87th with index 437), South Sardinia in 87th place with index of 437 and Sassari-Gallura, 104th place with index of 386.

The ranking contains the index of territories suitable for young people for business and work which monitors the conditions of the habitat on the basis of 13 indicators which include, among others, the under 35 employment rate , the presence of young entrepreneurs , the school-business collaboration , the diffusion of apprenticeships , the migratory balance of young people abroad or towards other regions .

THE NUMBERS – The latest data also show that 14,553 youth businesses are active in Sardinia , ie 8.5% of all Sardinian businesses. Those female youth are 4,267 and those managed by young foreigners are 1,435. There are 2,616 artisans under 35, of which 686 are female and 153 are managed by foreigners. «This Italy at different speeds for the environment that surrounds young people - explains Riccardo Porta , a young Sardinian craftsman and member of the National Council of Confartigianato Giovani Entrepreneurs - on the one hand it favors the activity of 522,086 companies led by under 35s throughout Italy, on the other it is at the origin of our negative record in Europe. On the island, the fact that less than one youth enterprise out of 5 is artisanal (17.98%) is also worrying ; it means that the artisan fabric ages and struggles to be reborn : this must make us reflect on the evident critical issues regarding the artisan entrepreneurial vocation of young people. And the negative demographic trend justifies only a part of this decline».
