On the occasion of Mother's Day , which is celebrated in the United Kingdom on March 15, Prince William shared a previously unseen photo, taken in 1984, of himself with his mother, Princess Diana Spencer .
The photo, from a private collection in the family archive, shows Diana and William, who was just two years old at the time, sitting in a field of wildflowers at the family's main residence in Highgrove , Gloucestershire .
William added the caption to the image, posted on the official Instagram account he shares with his wife (@princeandprincessofwales): "Remembering my mother, today and every day . Thinking of everyone who remembers a loved one today. Happy Mother's Day. W." Diana, who died at the age of 36 following a car accident in 1997, would have turned 65 on July 1st.
