US President Donald Trump spoke today with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and announced that "the two leaders agreed that, in order to achieve peace between their countries, they will formally begin a 10-day ceasefire starting at 11 p.m. (Italian time)."
The statement came via a message on Truth: "On Tuesday, the two countries met for the first time in 34 years here in Washington with our great Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. I have charged Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, along with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Razin' Caine, to work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve lasting peace. It has been my honor to resolve nine wars around the world, and this will be my tenth, so let's get to work and get this job done."
"I will invite the Israeli Prime Minister and the Lebanese President to the White House for the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983," he wrote, "a time now very long ago. Both sides desire peace, and I believe that will happen quickly."
