"The path to peace is strength. Weakness breeds more war. We will support Ukraine, while at the same time committing to strengthening European defense." This is what the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, wrote on X, on the occasion of the NATO-EU summit in London convened by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
“Europe’s continued support for Ukraine can lead to a just and lasting peace in the country,” Von der Leyen reiterated.
Meanwhile, the proposal for a summit between the EU and the United States, put forward by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after the clash at the White House between Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, is finding initial consensus.
Among the first to support the hypothesis was Poland, as confirmed by the Polish Prime Minister and
EU President-in-Office Donald Tusk . "We are on Ukraine's side without a doubt: unequivocal and lasting support must be provided to Kiev in its defense against Russian aggression," Tusk reiterated. At the same time, Tusk stressed, Warsaw "supports the closest possible alliance between the entire West and the United States."
