Valentina Greco, the 42-year-old woman from Cagliari who disappeared in Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia, on July 9th, has been found alive and in good condition. The woman, who had been living in the North African country for some time, had lost contact with her family, raising the alarm.
The search continued for several days, thanks in part to the mobilization of the Farnesina and the intervention of the Italian Embassy in Tunis, which collaborated with local law enforcement to locate the woman.
Valentina's identity was confirmed after her discovery . According to diplomatic sources, the 42-year-old is now in a safe place and has undergone medical checks.
His physical condition does not appear to be of particular concern, but the reasons for his absence have not yet been disclosed , nor whether it was a voluntary act or the result of another type of circumstance.
Valentina Greco, originally from the Is Mirrionis neighborhood of Cagliari, had recently become interested in Islamic culture and, according to sources close to the family, had shown interest in Sufism, a spiritual and mystical branch of Islam. However, there is no official confirmation linking this to her disappearance.
The news of the discovery was confirmed to the family by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani himself, who sought to reassure the relatives after days of apprehension.
"We want to fully understand what happened, so no comment," were the only words uttered by her brother Alessio Greco, who preferred not to release any statements immediately after learning from the Foreign Ministry that his sister had been found and was safe.
