According to reports, the French Embassy recently sent a note to the Farnesina announcing its willingness to transfer all documentation relating to the Ustica massacre to Italy. These include documents from the French Ministry of Defense that may refer to past rogatory letters from the Rome Prosecutor's Office.

Furthermore, French authorities say they are willing to accommodate further requests from Italy regarding the case. The material covers a long period, stretching back to the 1990s.

The Farnesina, through the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, forwarded the file to the Ministry of Justice, which, in turn, forwarded it to the Rome Prosecutor's Office. In light of this development, the prosecutors, at the September 30 hearing before the preliminary investigations judge, are reportedly prepared to withdraw their request to dismiss the case into the 1980 massacre that resulted in the deaths of 81 people.
