An American soldier stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, was arrested last week after informing users of the popular messaging platform Discord of his plan to carry out a massacre at a synagogue. The news was reported by Israeli media. Jakob Marcoulier, 22, was arrested Thursday and charged with transmitting threats through interstate commerce after the FBI's National Threat Operations Center received a tip in February about his threats against synagogues, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana.
According to court documents, the FBI obtained audio recordings from Discord in which Marcoulier allegedly stated: “ After this mission, if the Jews are still in control of our government , I will walk into a synagogue with my AK, with a 75-round drum magazine and all my spare magazines, with my level four ballistic plates and my level three plus haka helmet, and I will kill every single Jew I know inside that synagogue . That is my goal in life.”
During the conversation, Marcoulier told the other users: "You'll never do anything, but I will. I just have to get this thing done. I have to go back abroad and do what I have to do. And then you'll see me on the news. I promise you."
