The negotiations scheduled in Switzerland between Iran and the United States, aimed at reaching an agreement to end the conflict in the Middle East, have been postponed indefinitely. The Swiss government announced this just hours after US Vice President J.D. Vance's trip to the Alpine country was canceled.

"The planned talks between the United States, Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan have been postponed. Switzerland remains available to facilitate these talks. The related preparatory work is continuing," the Foreign Ministry announced in a message to AFP, without specifying a new date for the talks, scheduled for today at Bürgenstock, near Lucerne.

The White House announced the change of schedule in a statement: "Plans for the upcoming technical discussions have not yet been finalized, and the U.S. delegation has prepared to depart at the earliest opportunity. However, the logistics of these negotiations have never been simple or predictable. For now, the vice president will not depart."
