"The UN mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is seriously concerned by the numerous attacks on the Lebanese Armed Forces inside the country's territory, despite their declared non-involvement in the ongoing hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel," said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.
“The recent attacks have caused the death of 45 Lebanese Armed Forces soldiers, as reported by the LAF,” he added.
The attacks against the LAF in Lebanese territory, it said in a statement, "constitute a flagrant violation of UNSCR 1701 and international humanitarian law, which limits the use of violence against those not participating in hostilities. The role of the LAF remains vital for the full implementation of resolution 1701 (2006), which is essential to ending the ongoing violence between Hezbollah and Israel."
