Meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky shortly before the funeral of Pope Francis.

The Ukrainian president's staff released some photos of the face-to-face meeting, which took place inside St. Peter's Basilica , immediately after the delegations entered for the funeral rite.

" A good meeting, we had time to discuss a lot face to face," Zelensky explained after the ceremony for Pope Francis. "We hope," the Ukrainian president added, "that everything said will have a result: protecting the lives of our people, a complete and unconditional ceasefire. A reliable and lasting peace that will prevent the recurrence of war. A highly symbolic meeting that could become historic if joint results are achieved. Thank you, President Trump! "
