Nearly one million people have been evacuated in the Philippines following the arrival of Typhoon Fung-Wong.

The storm will bring wind, heavy rain, and storm surges to large areas of the archipelago, where a flood warning has also been issued.

Authorities have ordered the closure of schools and offices across the main island of Luzon, including the capital Manila, where hundreds of flights have been canceled.

During the passage of the “super-typhoon” , wind gusts of up to 230 kilometres per hour are expected at their peak between Sunday and Monday.
