Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denied that there was a phone call between Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump.
"There was no conversation, this is pure fiction," Peskov was quoted by Tass as saying regarding the reports published by the Washington Post.
“This is the most obvious example of the quality of information that is now sometimes spread even by respectable publications,” Peskov added, calling the news of the conversation between Trump and Putin “false.”
So far, the spokesman added, "there are no preparations underway" for contacts between Putin and Western leaders. "We have not received any signals," Peskov continued, also referring to
a possible phone call between the Russian president and German chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Vladimir Putin "remains open to all contacts, to negotiations, and if they say that some signal will come, then we must wait for it," Peskov concluded.
