Donald Trump's new attack on Italy: "It wasn't there for us, we won't be there for them" , wrote the US president on the social Truth, attaching to his message an article from the Guardian dated March 31 and entitled "Italy denies use of base in Sicily to American planes carrying weapons for war in Iran" .
Meanwhile, at 11:00 PM Italian time last night, a ten-day truce between Israel and Lebanon officially began. The ceasefire was violated overnight by several Israeli attacks , the Lebanese army announced. In a statement, the Lebanese Armed Forces said they had recorded "several Israeli attacks, as well as intermittent shelling that hit a number of villages" in what they described as "violations of the agreement."
"I hope Hezbollah behaves," Trump commented after the pro-Iranian organization "acknowledged" the ceasefire announcement, without specifying whether it would honor it or not. The group actually warned residents of southern Lebanon: "Do not travel to areas already hit by airstrikes. Israel has a long history of violating promises and agreements."
The truce is "excellent news" for Giorgia Meloni, who called for the ceasefire to be "respected", attributing to Hezbollah "the responsibility for having started this conflict" .
Trump also announced overnight that the US and Iran are "very close" to an agreement and that Tehran is ready to say yes to one of Washington's main demands, to "get rid of its enriched uranium." This point has not been confirmed by the Islamic Republic.
