Donald Trump has canceled Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner's trip to Pakistan for talks with Iran. The president himself told Fox News and Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were supposed to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad on Monday.
Axios reported this, citing two sources. A Pakistani official told the site that the meeting with Araghchi was supposed to focus on relaunching negotiations with the Trump administration.
“A trilateral meeting with the United States will be considered after our meeting with Araghchi,” the Pakistani official said.
"I just canceled my representatives' trip to Pakistan to meet with the Iranians," Trump later wrote on Truth. "Too much time wasted traveling, too much work. Furthermore, there is intense infighting and confusion within their 'leadership.' No one knows who's in charge, not even themselves. Furthermore, we hold all the cards; they hold none. If they want to talk, they just have to call."
