While others talked, I acted. While others talked of peace, I made it happen. While others ignored threats, I faced them. While others talked of courage, America demonstrated it. While others promised strength, I used it to make America the most powerful country in the world .

This is an excerpt from Donald Trump's speech to the UN General Assembly .

Iran? "A threat that many have chosen to ignore ." "The United States," Trump recalled, "recently marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks; in two weeks, it will be the third anniversary of the October 7 attack, which Iran's Supreme Leader called a service to humanity. Just imagine if such a violent regime had ever had the power to launch large-scale terrorist attacks while hiding behind a nuclear shield. This was the reality we had to face, a reality that far too many have chosen to ignore."

"The United States," he continued, "will no longer allow threats to America to take root anywhere in the Western Hemisphere, and we will employ our military power, if necessary, to protect vital U.S. national interests."

In his speech to the General Assembly, Trump thanked the UN Security Council "for overwhelmingly approving a resolution condemning Iran's deplorable terrorist attacks against commercial shipping."

Opening his speech, Trump recalled that freedom "is not a gift Americans have easily earned, and after 250 years, it is something we will never give up."
