«Tortolì reigns, Lanusei m....».
This is the writing that appeared on a bus shelter on the Rambla in Barcelona, the main avenue that connects Plaza de Catalunya with Port Veil. Where tens of thousands of people pass through every day.
The unfortunate writing was written with white spray by a group of very young students from Ogliastra who were on a trip to Catalonia these days. It was around three in the afternoon and at that time the main street was full of tourists, but not only. Because the boys were surprised by the Spanish municipal police. Some of them clumsily tried to erase the writing, but with no luck.
The authorities approached asking for clarification from the boys and probably taking their details and imposing a fine. The scene was immortalized in a video by a native of Ogliastra who lives in Spain and who recognized the accents of his fellow countrymen. A stunt by the boys, the insults towards the nearby town of Lanusei recall senseless and unfortunate parochialism. A gesture certainly also of incivility given that a public good was damaged.
