TNT in car: Russian General Sarvarov assassinated in Moscow

The news – reported by the Tass agency – has shaken Russia, which suspects that Ukrainian secret services may be behind the attack – in which 300 grams of TNT were reportedly used.
The Moscow prosecutor's office, which has taken over the investigation, reported that the device was placed with a magnet under the underbody of Sarvarov's Kia Sorento, near the driver's seat. The explosion apparently occurred when the soldier applied the brakes.
President Vladimir Putin , who is in St. Petersburg to take part in the traditional end-of-year meetings of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Eurasian Economic Union countries, which this year are being held between December 21 and 22, was immediately informed of the attack.
Fanil Sarvarov, born in 1969 in the Perm region (Urals) and trained at the military academies of the armored forces and the General Staff.
He was now head of the Defense Ministry's Operational Training Directorate . In 2024, he was promoted to lieutenant general by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Following his participation in the Ukrainian Special Military Operation, he was included in the list of alleged “war criminals” by the Ukrainian web portal “Mirotvorets” (Peacemaker).
During his career, he was awarded the Order of Courage, the Order of Merit to the Fatherland and the Order of Military Merit.
