If, five months after the primary vaccination cycle, immunity is already largely compromised (especially as regards the infection), that offered by the third dose could last much longer.

This is what emerges from the first studies carried out in Israel, the first country in the world to start administering booster doses: "We started making third doses of the anti-Covid vaccine in August, now five months have passed and we are seeing that the antibodies neutralizing agents, cellular immune memory and general immunity are higher than after the second dose ",

said Arnon Shahar, head of the Covid task force and the vaccination campaign in Israel, announcing the first data on the effectiveness of the booster.

“There is a slight drop in antibodies, but that's not what we're interested in because immunization isn't based on just that. We are very satisfied with the result, ”he added.

Israel has also already vaccinated 100,000 children between 5 and 11 years: “We did not register adverse events, only in a low percentage local mild effects such as fatigue, headache, a little fever. We hope to be able to start vaccinating younger children soon, ”Arnon Shahar said.
