There is still no agreement between Israel and Hamas on the hostages but "we continue to work hard to get there". The White House made this known by commenting on the Washington Post's indiscretions, according to which a negotiation on a five-day truce from the fighting had been concluded with US mediation in exchange for the release of dozens of hostages.

Biden's staff, through a post on X by White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson, does not deny that the dialogue is open. But he underlines that the agreement has not yet been reached.

Meanwhile, Israel has announced that two more soldiers from the Tel Aviv army have died in the clashes in Gaza: the total number of soldiers killed since the invasion began rises to 58.
