Tehran has delivered a "new negotiating proposal" to Pakistani mediators addressed to Washington, regarding a possible agreement to end the ongoing conflict , according to the Iranian news agency IRNA. The proposal was delivered yesterday evening, the same source adds, without immediately disclosing its content.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held telephone talks today with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Iraq, and Azerbaijan, focusing on the Islamic Republic's latest "initiatives to end the war," the ministry said in a statement.
While the content of Iran's new proposal isn't known, what we do know is that last Monday, White House envoy Steve Witkoff sent a list of changes to the previous draft drafted by Iran and rejected by Donald Trump. The changes focus on reinstating the nuclear issue in the draft agreement, Axios reports, citing a source familiar with the matter.
The source said one of the changes included a demand that Iran commit not to attempt to transfer enriched uranium from its bombed nuclear facilities, nor to resume any activity at those sites, while negotiations are ongoing .
Yesterday, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office , Donald Trump reiterated that Iran "desperately wants a deal" and that the country cannot have "nuclear capabilities." "One way or another, we're going to get Iran's enriched uranium," Trump added, saying he was "trying to save Iran somehow."
