A 50-year-old Spanish teacher was killed while teaching in her class, stabbed in the heart by a 16-year-old student.

The drama took place under the astonished eyes of the comrades, it happened in Saint-Jean-de Luz, in the south-west of France. A small city on the Atlantic just a few kilometers from the Spanish border. The school is the Saint Thomas d'Aquin private Catholic high school, a very quiet establishment.

The young man was immediately blocked and arrested, according to the Bayonne prosecutor's office. The teacher, rushed to the hospital, did not survive.

The motive, according to the first investigations, would be in a psychiatric disorder of the young high school student, who would have said he had heard voices telling him to kill the prof.

The French Education Minister, Pap Ndiaye, also went to the scene, commenting on the tragedy on Twitter, speaking of "immense emotion".

A former student said about the teacher: "A very demanding but not too strict teacher, until now she had never had problems with the students."
