Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will be in Beirut tomorrow for a series of institutional meetings with the President of the Lebanese Republic, Joseph Aoun, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Rajji.

During the visit, the minister will also meet with the Italian contingent deployed in the country as part of the Italian bilateral military mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) and the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L). He will also have a video conference with the Sassari troops deployed at the UNIFIL base in Shamaa .

During his talks with President Aoun and Minister Rajji, Tajani will first emphasize his desire to promote direct dialogue between Lebanon and Israel to build lasting peace in the region . The visit will also focus on Italy's commitment to security and defense . Our country participates in major international initiatives supporting Lebanon, starting with the UNIFIL mission, and is also engaged bilaterally through the MIBIL mission, to which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has allocated approximately €10 million over the past three years to strengthen the logistical and infrastructural capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces. Italy also chairs the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L), a strategic tool for coordination with the Lebanese authorities in the defense sector.

The meetings will address Italy's contribution to the country's humanitarian crisis, including an emergency aid package of 10 million euros and the organization of a humanitarian flight with over 40 tons of essential goods .

Minister Tajani, the Farnesina stated, will also emphasize the desire to reach a truce in the conflict between the United States and Iran and to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, also to end uncertainty in the energy and supply sectors. The Foreign Minister will finally meet with staff from the Italian Embassy in Beirut to express the government's appreciation for their work in the current regional context.
