The man was "firing indiscriminately at passing vehicles, including police vehicles," officers said. "There may have been between 50 and 100 rounds fired ," NSW Police Commissioner Stephen Parry said.

Two hours after the shooting, police arrested a 60-year-old man suspected of being the perpetrator in an apartment. He was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries. Police, according to AFP, have ruled out any links to terrorism or criminal gang activity.
