The shooting that took place today on a campus in Orebro, Sweden, is a massacre . After a series of contradictory reports, the Swedish police announced that about ten people were killed .

According to initial investigations, it is not a case of terrorism . The attacker , who was not known to the police, acted alone and there is no longer any danger for the community, also because he took his own life after opening fire on dozens of students .

The identification of the victims "is still ongoing," said Roberto Eid Forest, head of the Orebro police force, when asked why the toll of the attack is still so vague. He declined to provide further information about the identities of the victims or how many people were injured.

The attack took place this morning at a school in Orebro, central Sweden, 200 km west of Stockholm.

“It is with sadness that I learned of the terrible act of violence in Örebro. My thoughts are with those affected and their families,” Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote in X, calling the massacre the “worst mass shooting in Swedish history.”

"This is a very painful day for all of Sweden. My thoughts also go out to all those whose normal school day has been transformed by terror. Being confined to a classroom worrying for your life is a nightmare no one should have to live through ," the prime minister continued.
