North Korea has launched several short-range ballistic missiles (CRBMs) toward the Yellow Sea, according to the South Korean military, cited by Yonhap. CRBMs are ballistic missiles with a relatively short range, less than 300 kilometers.
"We have intensified surveillance and monitoring in anticipation of possible further launches and are closely sharing relevant information with the United States and Japan, while maintaining a posture of full readiness," the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. The last time North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea was on April 19. North Korean state media later claimed that they were surface-to-surface ballistic missiles and that the test included cluster bombs.
On April 12, they tested strategic cruise and anti-ship missiles from the destroyer Choe Hyon in the Yellow Sea, under the supervision of leader Kim Jong-un.
