Russia's night attack on Odessa, a city near the border with Moldova.

Two civilians lost their lives, the governor of the Region Oleg Kiper announced, adding that there are over 20 injured, including 4 children.

The raid caused damage to "civilian infrastructure, residential buildings and a religious structure".

We are talking about the Cathedral of the Transfiguration, a historic place of worship: the images circulating on the net show one side of the facade completely destroyed and extensive damage inside the cathedral, which was completed in 1808, was demolished by the Soviets in 1936 and rebuilt between 1999 and 2003.

AT LEAST 19 MISSILES

The Ukrainian Army's Southern Operational Command reports that Odessa has been hit by 19 Russian missiles of at least five different types: Kalibr, Oniks, Kh-22, Iskander-K and Iskander-M. "A significant portion of the missiles were destroyed by the air defense forces," the statement read. «The rest caused the destruction of port infrastructure, damage to residential buildings. Also affected was the cathedral of the Transfiguration, the main place of Orthodox Christian worship in the city".

"VENDETTA"

Zelensky promises revenge: «Missiles against peaceful cities, residential buildings, against a cathedral. There is no excuse for Russian evil, this evil will lose. And there will definitely be retaliation against the Russian terrorists who attacked Odessa."

THE EXPLANATION OF MOSCOW

Russian forces hit sites in Odessa where terrorist acts against Russia were being prepared

with the help of drones: this was stated by the spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, as reported by Tass.

OUTRAGE IN ITALY

«The attacks in Odessa, the death of the innocents, the destruction of the Transfiguration Cathedral, hurt us deeply. Russian aggressors demolish granaries, depriving millions of starving people of food. They devastate our European civilization, its sacred symbols. A free people will not be intimidated, barbarism will not prevail. Italy with its unique skills in the world in restoration, is ready to commit itself to the reconstruction of the cathedral of Odessa and other treasures of the artistic heritage of Ukraine", reads a note from Palazzo Chigi.

“The Russian bombing of Odessa destroyed part of the Transfiguration Cathedral, an unworthy act. Italy, after having supported Odessa to become a UNESCO cultural heritage, will be at the forefront for the reconstruction of the city», insists Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
