A nighttime attack with more than 300 drones and eight missiles. This is Russia's offensive on Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, launched overnight. The toll, still provisional and rising, stands at seven dead, 82 injured, and 44 hospitalized. Among them are a six-year-old boy and his mother, as announced by the head of the Ukrainian capital's Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko. A man was pulled alive from the rubble of a house.
At least 10 children were injured, five of whom were hospitalized, including a five-month-old baby girl. "The figures are not definitive," Tkachenko added. The attack, he added, damaged residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, medical institutions, and universities . "This is where the Russians are striking. A missile hit the entrance of a nine-story building in the Svyatoshynskyi district. This is the enemy's style."
The Ukrainian military has denied Russia's claim to have captured the eastern stronghold of Chasiv Yar, a spokesman for a unit deployed in the area told AFP. "Today, the world once again witnessed Russia's response to our desire for peace, which we share with America and Europe. New demonstrative killings. Therefore, peace without force is impossible ," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
"The capital was the main target of the massive bombing," Zelensky added. "The regions of Kiev, Sumy, Poltava, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk were hit. We must force Moscow to make peace, to sit down at a real negotiating table: our partners have all the tools to do so . We are confident that everything currently being declared by America and Europe to this end will be implemented."
