Revolution in California, where the crusade against petrol and diesel cars starts.

The emissions regulator has approved stricter rules that will lead to a ban on the sale of new traditional cars by 2035 , setting milestones to reach the goal of zero-emission cars.

The ambitious project is particularly important because California is the largest American auto market and because the choices of the state are usually followed by others.

Starting with the 2026 models, 35% of new cars will need to be fossil fuel-free. A share that will increase every year and is expected to reach 51% in 2028, 68% in 2030 and 100% in 2035 .

"The climate crisis can be solved if we take the necessary measures to stem pollution," explained Governor dem Gavin Newsom , who is also among the candidates for the race for the White House.
