An extremely lifelike sex doll was mistaken for a murder victim after being found inside an abandoned suitcase in Australia , according to police and local media.

The alarm was raised yesterday, when two men driving through the countryside came across an abandoned suitcase apparently full of human remains.

A task force of homicide detectives and forensic experts was then established to solve what police initially treated as a homicide. But tests soon proved that the suitcase actually contained an extremely lifelike sex doll , as public broadcaster ABC later reported.

"The contents of the suitcase were initially mistaken for the remains of a human," New South Wales Police Superintendent Linda Bradbury told reporters. "They look very lifelike."

Police said "forensic examinations" proved it was actually an "extremely lifelike doll," complete with clothing, hair, and a nose piercing. Further complicating matters was the fact that the doll "also exhibited signs resembling bruises and scratches," the police said in a statement. "The investigation is concluded."
